The Play/Write Showcases are the culmination of yearlong playwriting and theatre classes taught in 11 New Orleans area schools to 475 fifth and sixth-grade students. Throughout the program, GRP teaching artists instruct students on the fundamentals of playwriting and revision. Each student writes eight short plays and chooses one to turn into a full-length play. This year, twenty-four plays will be presented in two Showcases in Orleans and St. Bernard parishes.
