Meraux Foundation Donates $30,000 to Arabi CASA
St. Bernard Parish was recently chosen by the National CASA Association as one of 16 communities for a local CASA branch. A charitable donation of $30,000 from the Meraux Foundation helped CASA begin its important work in our community.

Judges announced Christie’s Dreams Seafood the winner of the second annual Startup St. Bernard yesterday. Christie’s Dreams Seafood took home a $110,000 prize package of cash and in-kind services designed to help propel their business to the next level.

Meraux Foundation Donates Land for New School
The Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation donated land on Paris Road at the entrance to St. Bernard Parish to the St. Bernard Parish Public School Board to develop a new elementary school, which will be named the Arlene Meraux Elementary School. The new school is projected to open in August 2017 and is a response to the growing number of school-age children in the parish.
Boo at the Barn a blast thanks to Chalmette Key Club
The inaugural Boo at the Barn event was a spooktacular success as nearly 2,000 people took part in this Halloween celebration. Held at the Docville Farm, Boo at the Barn was a collaborative community project presented by the Chalmette High School Key Club, a youth division of Kiwanis International.

On Saturday, the Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation dedicated the Dave Thompson Event Barn in honor of Mr. Thompson’s 65 years of service to the Meraux family and the community. The emotional ceremony gathered Mr. Thompson, now 83, his wife of 47 years, Rose, and dozens of family and friends for a heartfelt celebration and tribute to the beloved man.
